Ask The Agent: My Home Is Underwater, Commission Amount is a Crime, Advice Needed.

Q. My home is partially underwater and I really can’t imagine forking out $40k in commission. It’s almost a crime to collect that amount of money.  Any advice?

A. I addressed your question fairly specifically in the video, so please take a minute to watch.  I’ll be honest, if you think it’s “almost a crime” to collect “that amount of money” for services performed, we probably aren’t going to work together.  My suggestion to you would be to sell your home yourself.  It will be a short sale since you are “underwater” in your mortgage, good luck with that, they are a nightmare to deal with yet we do it every day.  And, if you’ll watch the video, you’ll learn that in this situation, you aren’t paying any commission, the bank is.
